New technologies give industries the opportunity to to create and provide new products and services thus appealing to a larger audience it can also increase productivity and reduce costs, the downside with this is other industries are getting newer and better technologies all the time and it can be difficult to keep up or stay at the top.
3.1c - Convergence
Convergence is the development of bringing many items into one, such as the IPhone, instead of being just a phone with the sole purpose of making calls, it is now a camera and a hand held gaming device and a calculator and much more and over time more and more products are converging into one, this could have an impact on the design industry as it is a struggle to keep up with the growing demand of newer better things that can do more.
3.1d - Working across disciplines in the design industry.
Its important in the design industry to work across all the disciplines successfully as they all interlink and if one fails then the others will fail along with it
for example if Accounting in business fail to do their jobs properly then the supply chain will stop which means there will me no materials for manufacture, etc
all disciplines must work together otherwise the goal cannot be achieved and the design industry is compromised.
